One of the benefits of our job is visiting all these wonderful and unique venues that we would not normally have the opportunity to do so. La Casa of Mason Creek showed us something we hadn't seen before, and it was a treat.
Nestled way out in the midst of Homosassa through winding, back crossing roads that made us question our GPS more than a few occasions is this grand beauty of an estate. The front facade gives it the feel of one of those gracious Mediterranean style mansions, but once you get closer you find out it is much much more. Multiple mermaid fountains grace the grounds and the majority of the main building's first floor is open air, leading out to the back lawn with picturesque swamp views reminding one of what the real, unspoiled Florida must have looked like. Rustic wood beams and doors, a fireplace and two fire pits as well as a full bar are some of the gems of the ground floor. A side room houses a long table that was made from a skiff loaded with nautical items and glass topped. It was surrounded by roughly hewn benches that complimented the conversation piece perfectly.
Upstairs things took an elegant turn with elaborate inlaid wooden floors, rich antique furnishings complete with a kitchen to make most envious. Everywhere you turned you could see something new and something interesting. The overall aesthetic was as if a very successful pirate decided to retire in style.
I can see why Wendy and Jason choose this place to start their happily every after. Jason looked handsome and his eyes had an extra twinkle. Wendy was glamorous and we made sure to get some romantic portraits of her alone as well as the newlyweds together. There ceremony was personal and sweet as a good friend performed it for them. Friends and family enjoyed the causal yet upscale feel of the place as they meandered from the front porch, open air dining area and back yard.
It was a joy working with Jason and Wendy and we wish them many happy years to come. Enjoy their sneak peek!
