Laura and Scott’s Engagement Session in Ybor City

Can I just start by saying I love shooting in Ybor City?  It's dirty, it's gritty, and I have a thing for brick, and old brick at that.  It's got character, and a style you don't see in many places in Tampa Bay. I suppose it also attracts people with interesting character too... sometimes the wrong way! While we were finishing up, across from the Ritz Theater, getting some street view shots... the strangest thing happened. We, well, I got heckled.  Yup, you read that right.  Heckled.  I heard coming from a van at a red light, "That won't come out, it'll be blurry!  You don't have what it takes!".  Well, my New Yorker surfaced for a few moments and surprisingly I resisted the urge to expel a flurry of four letter words, instead I said something like, "That's why you drive a van for a living...." I think.  Sounded good at the time.  I didn't even get angry, I just laughed at them. The best part of all of this was that Laura was in shock.  She asked if that really just happened, and I just smiled.  She assumed I knew the heckler or something, but... nope.  Just some random jerk who is so unhappy with his life that he has to make himself feel better by picking on others. People are weird. The session was cool though.  There's just something really awesome about the contrast of "dressy" and "dirty" that works for me.  A little black dress and heels in a back alley, sneaking kisses from her fiance... yeah, my kind of Engagement Session!
